The Summer Camp Program Staff ensures that safe, fun teachable moments and outstanding customer service are experienced by all summer program participants. The staff manages all aspects of the program experience including set-up, teardown, and leading the children directly. The staff will implement and lead all program curriculums, consisting of a wide range of areas, including education, art, music, and physical activity.
This is a seasonal position. Training begins between May 15 and June 1, 2025. Summer Day Camp runs from June 16-August 15, 2025.

Essential Requirements:
- Must be 18 years old.
- Strong understanding of youth programming and developmental behaviors. History of working with youth in a daycare, school, or other group setting.
- Proven ability to supervise adults and children.
- Ability to answer questions in a positive and helpful manner
- Ability to demonstrate high—caliber and consistent customer service.
- Must have or obtain CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens training.
- Must have or obtain Mandated Reporter training.
- Completion of YMCA program-specific training.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all segments of the community.
- Commitment to inclusion and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
Essential Functions:
- Have passion and excitement for the YMCA mission, believe in and live out the core values, and enjoy your work!
- Actively participates with all children in providing a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual needs of both the individual child and the group.
- Maintains high visibility in all program areas, leading programs, and engaging with all participants.
- Prepared to participate in all activities listed but not limited to: swimming, indoor and outdoor sports, food prep, and off-site programming.
- Models appropriate interactions with the children individually and in groups and encourages their involvement in activities.
- Encourages identification and verbalization of feelings.
- Participates in the maintenance of the facility to ensure that it is always clean. This includes but is not limited to wiping off fingerprints, picking up trash, cleaning up spills, cleaning furniture, toys and supplies, sweeping up after meals, or art activities, wiping off tables, stacking chairs, etc…
- Remains constantly aware of the growing needs of each child, offering new and enriching experiences as each child reaches a higher level of development.
