One day focus on the Community Impact Campaign

Saginaw, MI, Tuesday, March 3, 2020 – This special Y Day of Giving is a hyper-focused one-day giving event designed to highlight the YMCA of Saginaw’s Community Impact Campaign. Special events will be held throughout the day giving members an opportunity to support the campaign.

Leading off the day the YMCA Leadership staff, committee members, Y staff and volunteers will walk or run fifty miles on a treadmill at the Y beginning at 5 am and continuing until 9:30 pm. The goal of this group effort will be to collectively walk/run fifty miles and encourage ongoing donations to support the campaign via their membership draft or to make a one time donation. Group fitness instructors will lead a Burpee’s for Bucks program where they will do one burpee for every $2 donation. The membership services desk and kid zone staff will also have activities highlighting our cause.

The Community Impact Campaign raises much needed dollars that are used by the YMCA of Saginaw to support programs and outreach in the community. Dollars raised are used to provide financial assistance for membership or our Evidence Based Health Initiatives, send kids to YMCA Camp Timbers or day camp at the Y, support our healthy meals and snacks for youth, Safety Around Water program, and many other things.

Membership dollars pay for staff and building operation while Community Impact Campaign donations build the entire community. Community impact from our 2019 Campaign: • Over 350 youth participated in our Safety Around Water program, which teachers youth how to be safe in and around water. • Over 39,000 healthy meals and snacks were served by our Mission Nutrition program, ensuring no youth goes hungry in Saginaw County. • Over 500 Veterans untilize the Y annually through our Tribute Tuesday program

• 186 youth received financial assistance to YMCA Camp Timbers, providing kids a life-changing summer experience.
