The YMCA of Saginaw is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic Swim Instructor who can build strong relationships with program participants of all ages and backgrounds. This position requires someone who ensures safety in and around the pool during lessons or practice sessions and demonstrates the various swimming strokes to participants. The Swim Instructor will contribute to an inclusive and fun atmosphere while maintaining high safety standards.
Essential Functions:
- Lead swimming classes for participants of all ages, ensuring safety in and around the pool.
- Demonstrate all swimming strokes and techniques to participants of varying skill levels.
- Build strong relationships with program participants, fostering a positive and encouraging environment.
- Adapt lessons to meet the needs of individuals and groups, ensuring all participants are engaged and improving their skills.
- Enforce safety rules and guidelines to ensure a safe swimming environment for all.
- Provide feedback and guidance to participants on swimming technique and progress.
Qualifications:
- Ability to work with participants of all ages and varying backgrounds.
- Lifeguard certification is preferred but not required.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to demonstrate all swimming strokes and techniques.
- Enthusiastic, energetic, and approachable personality.
- Prior experience in teaching swim lessons or coaching (preferred).
