Saginaw Swims - 3rd Grade swim lessons at the YMCA

FREE 3RD GRADE YMCA SWIM LESSONS

The YMCA of Saginaw has received a grant to offer free swimming lessons to area 3rd graders! Here at the Y, we know that a child who learns how to swim builds confidence with every stroke. These free swim lessons are an introduction to water safety that allows children to achieve basic swimming competencies.

Swim lessons are important in a child’s life because it equips them with the skills that they need to feel safe around the water and put your mind at ease. Learning to swim not only allows kids to have fun in the water, but it can also save their life by teaching them how to stay afloat in the water!

“At the YMCA we want everyone in our community to learn safety around water. We specifically do that by teaching swim lessons. It’s important for everyone to know how to swim because water can be very dangerous. Approximately 3,500 people a year die in the United States as a result of drowning. We want to do all we can to prevent this from happening. This program will allow more kids who can’t afford swim lessons the opportunity to learn. ” – Doug Temple, YMCA of Saginaw Membership & Marketing Director

With these free swim lessons, we hope that this opportunity opens doors for individuals who couldn’t afford it before. We want every child to have the opportunity to participate in swim lessons at the YMCA and help us build a safer and stronger community!

Help us teach 3rd graders life-saving water safety.

The YMCA of Saginaw kicked off our Saginaw Swims Campaign on Nov 16, 2020 and will be raising funds to bring water safety to 3rd graders in Saginaw County.
