The YMCA of Saginaw is seeking an energetic and responsible Lifeguard to ensure the safety and well-being of all members and program participants in and around the pool. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing excellent service, creating a welcoming environment, and maintaining safety standards. This position requires current American Red Cross certifications, including Lifeguarding, CPR-PR, First Aid, and AED.
Essential Functions:
- Monitor pool areas, ensuring the safety of all swimmers and participants.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents.
- Respond to emergencies promptly and efficiently, including administering CPR and First Aid when necessary.
- Maintain a clean and safe pool environment, including pool decks, locker rooms, and surrounding areas.
- Build strong relationships with program participants and members, creating a positive and welcoming atmosphere.
- Assist with water safety education and support swim programs.
- Complete any required reports and documentation as needed.
Requirements:
- Must be American Red Cross certified in Lifeguarding, CPR-PR, First Aid, and AED.
- If not currently certified, must be willing to register and complete a lifeguarding course.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain alert and responsive in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous lifeguarding experience preferred but not required.
- Energetic and approachable personality, with the ability to work well with members of all ages.
