Volunteer

The YMCA was founded on a simple but powerful idea: bringing neighbors together to advance the common good, we can improve lives and strengthen communities. That idea came to life 170 years ago when George Williams convened 11 volunteers to improve the lives of young men struggling to overcome the challenges of life in industrialized London.

Volunteers are the most vital and irreplaceable element of the Y. In short, we simply cannot create such a lasting and meaningful impact in Saginaw without you!

Volunteer Opportunities

Mission Nutrition Food Program

As a Cause Driven organization the YMCA of Saginaw supports our community in many ways.  Our Mission Nutrition Youth Feeding program offers year round access to healthy meals and snacks to kids under age 18 and families in our community.  The program is currently looking for volunteers to assist with food preparation and distribution.  Times very depending on needs and planned food give away events.

Y Ambassadors

Y Ambassadors are the backbone of our volunteer initiative.  Ambassadors support the YMCA in many facets including serving on committees, attending outreach events, and supporting fellow members.  No matter what your interest the YMCA would love to talk to you about ways you can join us in strengthening community.

Aquatics

Teaching children how to swim and to be safe around water is not a luxury; it is a necessity. Accidental drowning is the number two cause of death for youth in the United States. We’re looking for extra eyes for our lifeguards. Join the Fun in or around the pool!

Apply to be a Volunteer

It’s easy to make real change in your community through VOLUNTEERISM. With the Y, you can activate your sense of social responsibility by contributing your time and talent to create a difference in the lives of your friends and neighbors — coaching a youth sports team, mentoring a teen after school, serving meals through our Mission Nutrition program, providing support for a family who needs you, and much more.

We’re always looking for volunteers to help further our cause. To apply for one of our many volunteer opportunities, send us a message via the online form and our volunteer coordinator will reach out to you with next steps.  Must be age 16+ or volunteer along-side an adult.
