LiveSTRONG at the YMCA

Rachel, a participant in the first LiveSTRONG at the YMCA session, encourages others not to be afraid to join, even with limitations. She found strength in the progress she made and the encouragement from the instructors, saying, “I can do this.” Now, she feels confident using gym machines and is grateful for the positive impact the program has had on her recovery.
Rozina Murphy

Rozina Murphy, a Y member since 2007, started private swim lessons in 2019, focusing on basics like floating and breathing. By her 8th lesson, she was swimming laps without assistance, reaching her goal of enjoying family swims. We’re so proud of her progress and dedication to a healthy lifestyle!
Wanda Washington

After a heart attack and several health challenges, Wanda Washington joined the Y in 2018 through the Silver Sneakers program. Since then, she’s lost weight, improved her blood sugar, and put her diabetes in remission, thanks to classes like Dance Fit. Wanda’s journey is a powerful reminder that making the right choice for your health can transform your life!
Dorothea Bandy

Since joining the Y in 2010, I’ve made incredible progress in my recovery after my heart was only functioning at 25%. With the help of cardio equipment, classes, and a supportive community, my heart function increased by 50%, I was taken off medications, and even had part of my pacemaker disconnected. Now, I can complete 45-60 minutes on the treadmill and push myself in challenging classes like Dance It Off—proof that with determination and the Y’s support, I can achieve anything!
