DESCRIPTION:Special Olympics Michigan – Area 22\nUnlike other sports\, swimming is a life skill that is taught\, first\, to ensure safety and\, secondly\, for sports and competition purposes. \nSwimming is appropriate for a range of ages and ability because of the wide array of swimming events offered. Swimming competition events are based on a variety of strokes. We also offer events for lower ability level athletes to train and compete in basic swimming skills. The development of these key skills is necessary prior to advancing to longer\, competitive events. \nThe culminating event for swimming takes place at State Summer Games in Mt. DESCRIPTION:OPEN TO ALL KIDS 5 to 15 YEARS OLD \nThis program curriculum comprises of skills for Safety Around Water which has been tested and shown to produce positive results. With activities that are so colorful and messy\, they will need to be done outside\, this PNO is for all the kids that love to color outside the lines. Parents can get out for the afternoon and leave the kiddos with us! The YMCA will provide the staffing and facilities for a fun filled Saturday afternoon! Kids can look forward to an exciting day filled with crafts\, swimming\, indoor games\, and snacks. Please bring a bathing suit and towel.
