We believe a summer camp experience can make an positive, long-lasting impact on a child.  We strive to help all campers experience new adventures, connect with new friends, and grow in mind, body, and spirit.  Our campers leave with greater self-confidence, improved social skills, and a “home away from home” where they are empowered to be the best versions of themselves possible.

None of this is possible without a remarkable staff team.

At YMCA Camp Timbers, our staff our role models.  They’re professional, energetic, and selfless agents of change.  At the end of their summers, they’ll have positively impacted the lives of 700+ campers.

2018 Seasonal Summer Positions

Summer Camp Employment Dates: June 8th-July 28th, 2018

Required Staff Training is June 8th-15th.

Note – Positions with weekly rates require overnight commitment of 6-days, 5-nights per week.

Senior Cabin Counselors
The ULTIMATE role model experience!  Provide direct supervision and leadership in a cabin of 8-10 campers. Enthusiastically set the tone for your campers each week as you facilitate cabin-based activities.   Strive to create memorable experiences and cohesive, family-like cabins.
Must be 18+; at least 1-year of college preferred.
$1250 -$1450/ 7-weeks (limited 3-week positions available June 9 – 30)

Assistant Cabin Counselors
Assist with supervision and leadership in a cabin of 8-10 campers.  Be a role model for campers with your camp spirit and our values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Must be 17+; camp experience preferred.
$900-$1050 / 7-weeks

Outdoor Leadership Trip Leaders
Interested in being a role model in the wilderness?
Lead week-long overnight hiking/canoeing trips for teens in Michigan national forests.
Must be 19+; trip/backcountry experience and WFA/WFR certification required.
$200-250 /week.  3-5 weeks.

Kitchen/Maintenance Support Staff
Make exceptional camp experiences possible by working behind-the-scenes with our Food Services or Maintenance teams.  Various positions available, including AM/PM cooks, kitchen assistants, and buildings/grounds assistants.  AM/PM Cook Positions:

Previous experience required.  $200-300/week based on hours.

Kitchen/Maintenance Assistant Positions:
Must be 17+, related experience preferred.
$125-$175/week stipend.
