I pay membership fees, why am I asked to give more to the Annual Campaign?

Membership and program fees support the Y’s utilities, facility cleaning and maintenance, staffing and management expenses, and pool costs.

In comparison, annual campaign dollars support membership, camp, and program scholarships as well as our youth sports, swim team, and after-school programs here at the Y and across Saginaw County.

In other words, your donations help to cover the gap between what it actually costs to offer memberships and programs at the Y each year and what it costs to offer those services and programs.

Your gift also directly influences the experiences of low-income children, adults, families and seniors here at the Y and at Camp Timbers. The availability of more resources equals more access to Y offerings, which is the difference between the Y doing good work and doing great work in the communities we serve.

Also your contributions are tax-deductible, whereas your membership fees are not. When you donate to the Annual Campaign, you help keep membership and program costs lower and your gift entitles you to a tax benefit.

How much should I give?

We hope that every Y staff person, volunteer, member, program participant and community member at large will be as generous as possible. But every gift matters.

In the past, Annual Campaign donations have raised from $10.00 to more than $25,000. Gifts of all sizes are needed and welcome. Every dollar makes a difference in our ability to change lives one child or one family at a time.

Do you accept matching gifts?

Yes! Many companies and organizations match the value of charitable gifts made by employees and their spouses, board members, and retirees.

This means that when you make a gift to the YMCA of Saginaw, you can sometimes double or triple its impact by checking with your employer to see if they participate (or are interested in participating) in a matching gift program.

What is the time period of the Y Annual Campaign?

This year the YMCA of Saginaw will run from mid-February through March.

What if I can’t give at this time?

There are many ways you can help! You can pledge now and defer payment until later; you can also pay in installments, if that is more convenient for you. All pledge payments must be received by December 31 to be counted in this campaign year.

Who can I contact for more information about serving as an Annual Campaign volunteer?

The Y’s support staff would love to connect you with a Co-Chair or Campaign Captain, who can get you the information you need to get started helping the Y raise funds this year.

Just let us know you want to help!
