Anyone who lives in the Great Lakes Bay Region knows the challenges Saginaw faces as a community.
People of all ages and backgrounds are struggling to reach their full potential. More and more children face seemingly insurmountable learning gaps. Families find it difficult to spend quality time together. People are not connected to their neighbors; face time happens through a phone. And instead of seeing the income gap shrink, it seems all we can do is watch it grow.
But when challenges arise, the YMCA steps in. After nearly 150 years of serving Saginaw, the Y understands what our community needs to be its best. The YMCA of Saginaw has enjoyed a presence near Celebration Square at the corner of Fordney and M-46 since 1957, where it has helped our community to be healthy and thrive for years by tackling gaps in learning, health and safety that create barriers to well-being.
Our desire to see Saginaw “live well” is rooted in our core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility. Every day Y staff, volunteers, members, and community partners work together to identify the challenges that children, families and seniors in our region experience and work to support their success in spite of whatever obstacles may be present — including personal economics.
The Y believes that, within the limits of available funding, no individual or family should be denied help to reach their full potential because of a proven inability to pay for memberships, programs or other services.
We raise funding each year through community donations to help support this philosophy. Every dollar donated to the YMCA of Saginaw lifts the world around us, building a stronger Saginaw.
Every day, Y staff and volunteers deliver on our cause to strengthen Saginaw. Whether building confidence in kids, encouraging someone to achieve a health goal, or bringing people from different backgrounds together to improve our local neighborhoods, every connection made contributes to a better “us.”
Working together for good is who we are: An association of people united in a common effort to put Judeo-Christian principles and core values into practice through programs that enrich the spirit, mind and body for all.
The Y is the nation’s leading nonprofit because there is no other nonprofit quite like the Y: We have the local presence and partnerships to not just promise, but deliver, positive change.Give Now Online
