YMCA of Saginaw – Day Camp Coordinator (seasonal)

Hours:  Varies  (mainly looking for Mon-Fri 7:30am-5:30pm – seasonal)
Pay: $11.00-$15.00 / hour

Description:  The Day Camp Coordinator radiates energy and warmth, able to build strong relationships with and between all members and program participants.  The Coordinator leads a team of staff and volunteers who work with small group activities that are based on safe, fun, and quality built programs that are developed on the foundation of the YMCA of Saginaw’s mission, vision, and values.  The activities and partner services consist of a wide range of offerings – sports, arts, outdoor, etc. – based on age and development appropriateness.  The coordinator leads in all aspects of the cam experience including hiring, scheduling, working with partners, program set-up, implementation, and teardown.  This position will require varying hours and responsibilities.

Required:

– CPR/AED and First aid Certification with in first 30 days of hire (we will provide training)
– Experience working with youth between the ages of 3-12 years
– Available 15 hours / week from April 1st to June 7th
– Available for a week of training June 10th-14th

YMCA of Saginaw – Mission Nutrition

Description:  Join our Mission Nutrition team to fight hunger  in the Saginaw community. We are looking for reliable employees to prepare meals for our meal program, unload truck loads of produce deliveries, and deliver meals to   predetermined sites.

Program Positions


YMCA of Saginaw – Day Camp Counselors (seasonal)

YMCA of Saginaw – Youth Sports Coach

Pay: $9.25 – $9.50 / hour

Description:  The coaches are able to build strong relationships with and between all members and program participants.  The coach leads members and participants with safe, fun, quality sports programs that are developed on the foundation of the YMCA of Saginaw’s mission, vision, and values. The sports consist of a wide range of offerings – flag football, basketball, soccer, cheer, kickball, dodgeball and T-ball and possibly more. The coaching staff assists in all aspects of the program experience including set-up, program implementation.
This position will require some evening and weekend responsibilities.

YMCA of  Saginaw – Aquatic Fitness Instructor

Pay: $10.00 – $15.00 / hour

Description:   The YMCA of Saginaw is currently seeking a creative and energetic Aquatic Fitness Instructor to lead aqua fitness classes for our members in the water. The Aquatics Fitness Instructor is responsible for instructing water-based group fitness classes in a safe, enjoyable, professional and positive environment which fosters member wellness and engagement. In this role, you are expected to initiate conversations with members, answer questions to support members’ in achieving or maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and also to build effective, authentic relationships with members. We need someone willing to adapt to changing environment and follow tentative class descriptions.

Requirements: No experience required for Aquatic Fitness Instructor. Experience working with adult populations preferred; AEA certification required or to be obtained within 90 days of hire; CPR/AED certification required or to be obtained within 60 days of hire.

**Certified Personal Trainers, group exercise instructor, water aerobics instructor, Red Cross WSI or YMCA swim lesson instructor, or Certified Lifeguards are welcome to apply!

Essential functions for Aquatic Fitness Instructor

  • Aquatic Fitness Instructor is expected to choreograph exercise sessions to include a warm up, aerobic exercise, cool down and stretch.
  • Instruct patrons on effective workout methods, explain proper techniques, and demonstrate exercises.
  • Maintain confidentiality of participant information.
  • Aquatic Fitness Instructor evaluates participant’s success toward goals using appropriate assessment tool, and provide feedback to participants.
  • Ensure program area is safe and clear of any hazards.
  • Wear proper attire and name tag in accordance with YMCA standards.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.

YMCA of  Saginaw – Yoga Instructor

Description:  The Yoga instructor radiates energy and warmth and is able to build strong relationships with and between all members and program participants.  The instructor leads members and participants with safe, fun, quality classes that are developed on the foundation of the YMCA of Saginaw’s mission, vision, and values.  The instructor is responsible for all aspects of the class experience including set-up, leadership, and clean-up.  Certification by a nationally recognized organization as a yoga instructor is required.

YMCA of  Saginaw – Wellness Coach

Description:  The Wellness Coach (WC) while on duty will be responsible for related services including member engagement, instruction on equipment, assisting members with developing goals, maintaining and cleaning equipment, general operations, assisting in tours, aquatic observation and any emergency that may occur. The WC will provide a safe and clean workout environment, accurate general health and wellness information, and a high level of customer service. The WC must portray a professional image and provide positive feedback, motivation, and encouragement.

Description:  The swim instructor radiates energy and warmth, able to build strong relationships with and between all members and program participants.  The swim instructor needs to be able to work with any age and varying backgrounds. The swim instructor ensures safety in and around the pool for all participants during class/practice time.  Must be able to demonstrate all swimming strokes. Lifeguard certification preferred, but not required.

Internship Opportunities


Graphic Design & Marketing Internship

Position Summary:  The Y is seeking a fun, creative, enthusiastic and outgoing individual to provide graphic design and marketing support for the YMCA of Saginaw. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Graphic Design and Marketing Intern will work closely with the Graphic Design Manager and Marketing & Membership Director.

  • Job Title: Graphic Design & Marketing Intern
  • Reports to: Marketing Director & Graphic Design Manager
  • Duration: TBD
  • Hours: Part-time, 10-20 hours per week with flexible schedule
  • Compensation: Work Experience (unpaid), Free Y Membership during internship

Job Details and Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the design and development of digital and print marketing materials. This includes web ads, email headers, social media ads, print ads, brochures, direct mail pieces, posters, banners and other materials as needed.
  • Take and edit photos
  • Provides support and input for the planning and execution of grass roots marketing initiatives throughout the region supporting new and current initiatives
  • May represent the YMCA at special events
  • Assists with writing press releases and promotional copy
  • Completes other design and marketing projects as needed

Qualifications

  • Students pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, marketing, communications or business administration preferred
  • Experience working with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator), Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and basic camera skills preferred
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Resourcefulness, ability to take initiative, and to work both independently and as a team member
  • Availability to work 10-20 hours per week in order to complete assigned projects

Exercise Science Internship:

The Y is seeking a fun, creative, enthusiastic and outgoing individual to provide support for the Y. This internship provides dynamic guidance and leadership in multitude of different areas (youth development, healthy living and social responsibility). The internship is an opportunity to gain experience working as an integral member of the YMCA. The selected Intern will work closely with the Program Directors, and interact with all staff members. The Intern will work on real projects and learn to work cooperatively in a fast-paced, deadline and results driven environment, and also receive a free membership to the Y for them.
